Subprime Crisis versus Savings & Loan Crisis โ€” A (Voting?) Map
October 20th, 2008 by Katie McCaskey

Real estate speculators drove both the current subprime mortgage crisis and yesterday’s savings and loan (”S&L”) crisis. Some regions of the country were hit hard by both. How do they compare?

Now for some nasty rumors concerning this election day…

One rumor is that folks who have recently experienced a foreclosure will not be eligible to vote because their current address will not match their address on record. This is false!

If you’ve registered, you still have the right to vote!

You do not need to own a home to be eligible to vote. If you’ve experienced foreclosure and are hassled on election day you’ll need to report this to your local authorities.

It is sad to see where both financial crises burdened our country the most. How do you think our election this year differs from the election following the S&L crisis?
