Blog RoundUp : Gift cards, Beer Bottle Trees, and Buying for a Large Family
December 23rd, 2008 by Amber Jones

We know you are counting down the days until Christmas is here.  Here’s hoping you get the gifts you actually wanted this year.

However, what if you get a gift card, and you don’t really shop at that store?  Then what can you do with it?  Well, Mrs. Micah at Finance for a Freelance Life has given some great suggestions on just that!  A couple are to re-gift or even swap it for something you can use.  Have you ever received a gift card that you didn’t use?  If so, what did you do with it?

Are you interested in something a little different?  Dedicated beer drinker Adam Cadamally turned 1,050 bottles into an amazing lighted Christmas tree.  Check out the video on Lifehacker here!  Oh yea, and great way to re-use the bottles instead of just trashing them!

Follow Ben at Milk Your Money, as he talks about buying gifts for a large family.  This year, they have something up their sleeve.  I guess you will just have to be patient to find out what they are planning this year.

But what if you don’t have anything yet?  (Wait, what?  Christmas is only two days away!  What are you thinking?)  Oh well, I guess there are still those who would rather wait until the last minute.  If that’s the case, you could always donate to a charity in the name of someone else as their gift.  You want to be sure that this charity is important to either them, yourself, or both.  Not sure how to do this?  David at My Two Dollars shares a guide on how to donate in someone’s name.

I highly recommend the electronic versions of the Amazon gift cards as well as the ones you can print on your own. I have never had a problem with either of these methods, nor have any of my card recipients.
