Are you gaining the “recession pounds”?
January 9th, 2009 by Amber Jones

With the cost of food rising, and many families finding it hard to make ends meet, they may begin to reach for less nutritious food because these energy dense foods are less expensive.

Health officials are fearing that as people cut food spending they will cut back on healthy but relatively expensive items.  These include fresh fish, fruit, vegetables and whole grains.  Instead, consumers will be in favor of cheaper options high in sugar and saturated fats, thus causing them to put on what others are calling “recession pounds”.

It is possible to eat in an affordable and healthy way.  This means more reliance on the basic foods which saw America through the Depression of the 1930s.  Focus on getting nutrient-rich foods such as ground beef, beans, milk, nuts, cheese, carrots, potatoes, canned tomatoes, soups, and rice.  Remember that while you may feel some relief on the wallet now, trying to lose the weight later could still create a dent in your wallet.  Also, it could increase health risks that could be a hard hitter later in life.

It seems like if things keep going like they are, all the countries will be in recession.

I tell you one thing, I'm glad the recession isn't hitting my pockets as hard.
