You’ve probably heard about, and maybe you have even seen the movie, Confessions of a Shop-a-holic. We’re sure that many of you can relate to similar spending habits. However, today we aren’t going to talk about the kind of shopping that blows your piggy bank and your budget. In fact, we are going to go to the other end of the spectrum, and talk with a self-proclaimed “Save-a-holic”.
Meet Jennifer – she is a stay at home mom to two boys, Nathaniel age 2 and Micah age 8 months. Then there is her husband who would be classified as the bread winner in the family, Glenn. Jennifer is a save-a-holic because she spends a good amount of time working hard at finding the best deals in town.

She clips coupons and checks out the local sales papers in order to save on groceries, and stays alert for great deals on clothing and other necessities – all while blogging to tell about it! You can check it out over at Jen’s Money Saving Blog. Jen started this in November 2008, just a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. “I always hunt hard to find great deals for Christmas presents and figured this year I could share my finds.”
Jen, tell us, what kinds of savings have you had with coupons and sales?
My best recorded shopping trip so far was 84% savings during Harris Teeter triples weekend.
Wow – spending less than $10 for over $60 worth of groceries is an awesome deal! Any others?
I’m always keeping my eyes open for good deals on clothing. We rarely buy clothes unless they are deeply discounted. When shopping for Christmas gifts last November we ran across Geoffrey Beene’s going of out business sale where we saved 81% off retail.
Another savings of over 80% – I’m beginning to think that you are on to something here! What does your husband think about these savings?
He absolutely loves that I make the effort to save money. We say his job is to earn it and my job is to save as much as possible! He’s very supportive which makes it much easier. I can’t take him shopping with me, though, because he finds things he needs that I don’t have coupons for! You have to be patient and wait for the best deals.
Absolutely! Be patient, and you can usually find a better deal. It really sounds like you have it figured out, and you are utilizing your time wisely!  Keep it up!
We have barely scratched the surface here with Jennifer. In the coming weeks, she will be sharing her thoughts and tips on taking advantage of savings opportunities, so that you can get the most of these useful tools. We want all of you to do well, just as she has, and so we are going to equip you with the right information in order to do just that. So stay tuned!
Think of how far $6,000 will go if you are able to use it along side coupons and sales! Register today for your chance to win in The Great Geezeo Bailout!
