Confessions:

  • what sweepstakes? :( I haven’t seen that!  (See above.)
  • The interest rate on my savings account keeps going down, but I don’t want to go through the hassle of switching banks  (It can’t be that difficult to do, is it?)
  • I am buying a bike with my tax return when I should be paying off my car loan  (Hmm, I say it depends on the bike.  regular, two wheel, manually powered bike = good exercise = savings at the gym.  on the other hand, motorcycle bike = gas savings)
  • I have to get control of my money!  (Most of us are in the same boat!)
  • I’ve let my spending get out of control and am watching my savings dwindle to nothing. Shame on me.  (All the more reason for you to be here, on Geezeo, keeping track of your spending habits!)
  • We are almost debt free and now I want to go back to school and that means more debt! (I say that’s okay, provided it’s helping you advance yourself to bigger and better things.)
  • i just put a chunk of money back on the card that i used savings to pay off. d’oh.  (Uh oh!)
  • My roommates pay more for internet then rent.  (Ouch!)
  • Took out $20 for a preschool application for my son, and spent it on lunch. :-(   (We all make mistakes here and there.  It’s just time to jump back up there, and work harder next time to avoid this situation.)
  • I haven’t worked since Christmas, and have been living off of student loans…  (Time to get a part time job at least!)
  • i spent $300 on sunglasses  (I hope they were nice sunglasses!)
  • Geezeo has helped me save $1100 a month! I <3 budgeting :) I hope I dont jinx myself now  (Yay!  Congratulations!  We love hearing about your success stories!)

Conversations:

What would you do with $1,000,000,000?  That’s right, ONE MILLION DOLLARS!  Many have already given their 2 cents.  Most recently, TheCanadian said :

As the song says, “I’d be rich…”

Love that song but seriously, I’d invest it. I have a job now, I’m paying off my debts so I think the best thing to do with that money is stick it somewhere VERY, very safe and let it grow. That way, I already have my old age pretty much covered already so all I’d have to worry about is the “Here and Now”.

Tell us what you would do with all that money!

There has been some discussion in our Frugal Expert, Natalie McNeals group about tips to keeping grocery costs down.  Is there anything you do to keep yourself within your budget?  (You’re not?  Maybe you should check out some recent posts regarding coupons – here and here.)  Katie says :

I find that if I take cash I’ll stay in that limit. But, the best savings I’ve found has come from learning to cook more. My cooking skills are VERY limited, but, ingredients are cheaper than pre-made.

Do you have any Thrift Store Treasure finds that you want to brag about?  Here’s a recent one from HeckSpawn :

I used to shop at a salvage yard in Sacramento (at site of the former dump) since closed in 2000. When I was working nights, I’d head there after work and be there when the new stuff was put out in the mornings. Got lucky one morning and picked up a Kliban Cat cookie jar for $5. I had just heard on the news that morning that Kliban had passed away. Sold it a while later on ebay for $270.

Head on over and tell us of your favorite finds!

$6,000 could go a long way toward reducing your debt. Win this or other great prizes in The Great Geezeo Bailout!
