It seems like only yesterday that playing video games was considered lazy, but then along came the Wii. Suddenly there was tennis, bowling, baseball and more all from the comfort of your own living room without sucking you into the couch. However, with games costing around $50 each, there’s no coins left to lose into the sofa either. Lucky for you gamers, there are ways to save.

If the library previously meant card catalogues and book reports to you, then have the resource desk point you in the direction of their game aisle. Some let you checkout for free or others let you borrow for a minimum payment. Many libraries even let you re-new on-line so you can conceivably keep a game long enough to be burnt out on it.
Speaking of which, check e-Bay and craigslist for copies being sold by people who can’t imagine one more race with Mario and are ready for some skiing. Buying used games can generally save you 2/3’s the price.
And don’t forget the generosity of friends. Team up with a few and buy one game each and then swap out and trade.
If you absolutely need your own and have it brand new, Costco offers discounts, too. However, if you’re not a member check in on Amazon.com. There’s generally some savings, plus free shipping. In addition, they offer a list of the top games to give you ideas on new ones to buy.
While the Wii may get you moving, by following the above simple cost saving tips, your money can stay put.
