Booboo’s Student of the Week: ELAINE VOLPE!!

Hi Elaine! You’re one of my best buddies. Who else stops by when my mom’s not home to take me for a walk?!
We have had some fun summer walks - Can’t wait to take you to the beach this year
It’s going to be a blast!
Hey, Before we get into the meat, or bones, of this interview, please tell us a little bit about your college background.
I graduated from NU last year- May 2006 - with a dual degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. It took 5 years, but it was well worth it! I had amazing opportunities: like working in Scotland for 6 months, traveling to New Orleans for a marketing conference and witnessing several riots.. I mean celebrations.. of the superbowl and world series championships!!
For all the readers out there, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I wish I had something truly amazing to write here, like I love to write novels and read the New York Times, or volunteer to solve hunger, but I’m not that cool - I’m very simple. I like to laugh, dance, watch movies, drink coffee and hang out with my friends!
Do you get scared about the student barking at your door?!
Oh Booboo, you’re so cute with your little play on words! And YES, I’m a little scared of all the money I have to pay off.
I am so cute, and don’t you forget it!
What’s your plan for paying off your college debt?
I’ve been making monthly payments since last May to pay off my debt… But I still have a long way to go!
Did you let credit card debt dig its teeth into you during your college career?
Luckily I was always able to pay off any/all the credit card debt I accrued during college.
What are some of your financial goals?
Um… to have finances and money… beyond wanting and trying to keep my money I haven’t created too many other goals
What is your prediction of your financial situation in 5 years? How do you plan on getting there?
I don’t even know where I want to live or what I want to do in 5 years, let alone where I want my financial situation to be! But I do know I want my financial situation to be good.
I’m sure it will be good, great even!
Do you currently use any software or other tools to track your finances?
I do a lot of online banking and paying of bills, so I use those tools or other software already on my computer
If there was an easy to use, fun program to help you keep track of your finances, find the right credit cards and loans, help you to save, and do so much more, would you use it?
Yes, I definitely would use GEEZEO, especially if I got a employee discount!
You can use it for FREE! (actually everyone can… but don’t worry, you’re still special!)
If you could buy anything in the world, what would you buy?
I would buy a plane or jet, so I could travel with my friends anywhere in the world at any time!!
Sounds great… as long as I can come!
Thank you Booboo!

Booboo’s Student of the Week: CHRIS HAMEL!!

Hi Chris! Before we get into the meat, or bones, of this interview, please tell us a little bit about your college background.
I recently graduated from Northeastern University in the heart of Red Sox Nation, Boston, MA. I took part in NU’s co-op program and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship.
For all the readers out there, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I’m a huge fan of music, both listening to it and creating it. I’ve been producing hip-hop beats for a few years now and would love to someday have my own studio. I’m also interested in entrepreneurship and would love to one day start my own company. Other than that, I’m into just about all sports, hanging out with friends and long walks on the beach. OK, that last one wasn’t serious, but I do like the beach.
I love the beach too - playing in the sand is my favorite! I also look great in my bikini… OK, I’m not serious about that either!
Do you get scared about the student loans barking at your door?!
Well they’ve already been barking at me for a little while now, so I’m starting to get used to them.
What’s your plan for paying off your college debt?
I’m set up on a monthly payment plan, which I think works out pretty well for me. Fortunately, I’m working full time, so that’s helping out with the payments.
Did you let credit card debt dig its teeth into you during your college career?
Luckily, I was able to stay away from credit card debt during college.
What are some of your financial goals?
I’d like to start investing more in the near future, pay off some of these nasty college loans and eventually get invited to sign up for a Black American Express card.
The Black Diamond! Bow down sales people!
What is your prediction of your financial situation in 5 years? How do you plan on getting there?
Hopefully, I’ll be on my second real estate venture by then, with some great credit and less college loans to worry about. I plan on working hard for the money, so you better treat me right. Great song.
Do you currently use any software or other tools to track your finances?
Currently, the only thing I use to track my finances are Excel and a filing cabinet with bills in it.
If there was an easy to use, fun program to help you keep track of your finances, find the right credit cards and loans, help you to save, and do so much more, would you use it?
Well, that just sounds too good to pass up.
Chris, it is too good to pass up!
If you could buy anything in the world, what would you buy?
A beach house in the Caribbean with my own private recording studio. A nice ocean view wouldn’t hurt either
Hey, you can put your beach house on your Black AMEX!
Of course!
Thanks for your time; it’s been great!!
Thank you Booboo!

CHECK IN NEXT WEEK FOR BOOBOO’S SUPER COOL STUDENT OF THE WEEK!
Booboo’s Student of the Week - STEPHANIE FOWLER!

Steph, before we get into the meat, or bones, of the questions tell us a little bit about your college background.
Well… I started off commuting to Becker College in Worcester, MA, transferred and lived on campus at Westfield State College, and then transferred again to Worcester State College, where I once again commute. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education and Psychology and will graduate this May.
Besides playing with my pal, Teetee (picture coming soon), what are some of your favorite things to do?
I love to travel as much as possible, visiting new and exciting places! I also LOVE to watch sports especially basketball and football…and of course the RED SOX! Spending time with friends and family!
Do you get scared about the student loans barking at your door?!
Somewhat… my parents have been helping me pay them off while I’m in school, but once I graduate I think that scary reality of paying them back will finally hit me!
You’re right, they’ll bite you like Buddy down the street bites the mailman’s leg!!
What’s your plan for paying off your college debt?
With monthly payments and additional money going towards the principle. I’m also going to consolidate all my student loans once I graduate and know the ending damage.
Did you let credit card debt bite you in the bum during your college career?
No - Thank goodness!!
What are some of your financial goals?
By the time I graduate I hope to buy a brand new, or almost new car, and get an apartment by the fall. Wow… I really have my work cut out for me!
What is your prediction of your financial situation in 5 years? How do you plan on getting there?
Booboo, you’re getting serious! Truthfully I don’t know what I’m going to eat for dinner, never mind what my financial goals are. I should probably start thinking about that!
Do you currently use any software or other tools to track your finances?
No – too much of a hassle!
If there was an easy to use, fun program to help you keep track of your finances, find the right credit cards and loans, help you to save, and do so much more, would you use it?
Most definitely — keeping track of your current finances helps you not only track, but watch your spending practices. By finding the right credit card or loan rate I would be saving a lot of money over time, and it just makes good consumer sense to do so.
If you could buy anything in the world, what would you buy?
A private jet so I could go anywhere I want whenever I want!!
And you’d take a cute little puppy like me with you of course!
Of course!
Thanks for your time, and congratulations on your pending graduation!!
Thank you Booboo! You’re too cute.
Don’t I know it!

Puppy Power!
We’re so excited to introduce the newest member of the Geezeo team, Booboo, the Personal Finance Pomeranian. Only being two and a half (17 in dog years), she has already graduated from the K-9 College of Money, and continues to tour Boston barking advice at all the big (and small) dogs.
The well groomed guru is happy to share her tails of success, and here at Geezeo we can’t wait to hear what she’ll yap about next.
Keep a lookout for Booboo’s Student of the Week, where she dares to sniff out the upperclassmen and recent grads who are being dogged by their credit cards and student loans.
Meet Ruby (not the programming language)
We are excited to announce that Ruthann “Ruby DeGutis has recently joined the growing Geezeo team as our Social Marketing Manager. Previously Ruthann worked as the Director of Representatives at i2hub, a file sharing service that utilized the Internet2 network and expanded to over 400 universities globally. i2hub was designed and intended for the use and collaboration of university and college students. During her time at i2hub, she created and implemented a representative program to promote the service in each locale. Before i2hub was shut down (a badge of honor) by the RIAA she was able to recruit representatives from around the nation. Due to the peer-to-peer marketing efforts of those representatives, i2hub became number one in its field. Ruthann also provided key website analysis to improve user conversion rates not only for i2hub, but on stallscribbles.com, a college confessional site, and a partner popular social networking site.
“Understanding, and personally enjoying, the current trend in web 2.0 technology, I’m excited to help make Geezeo a fun, interactive place for its users. I have no doubt that Geezeo’s college brand ambassador program will play a key role in helping college students and recent grads easily understand and better manage their finances.
“If you’re the fun, social, outgoing type who can’t have enough friends, and wants to learn more about becoming a Geezeo brand ambassador at your college, please email me at rdegutis@geezeo.com

As well as loving her new job, Ruthann enjoys hanging out with Wayne (her boyfriend), friends, family, and her little Pomeranian puppy, Booboo. (we’ll be seeing more of Booboo)
She likes watching movies and going out dancing. While attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst (majoring in Communication), she lived abroad in Beijing, China. Now she travels to Taiwan whenever possible, taking in all the local culture, and cuisine!
